Cortijo Orihuela is only 7 minutes by car from the attractive whitewashed village of Frigiliana which is famous throughout Spain for its flower-filled streets, the fantastic view over the bay of Nerja and its location on the edge of the Almijara natural park.
The holiday home is situated inside a small area of enclosed land. The southern part of the property below the swimming pool leads into a small pine forest. Some of the trees are as high as 20 metres and create lovely pockets of shade around the pool as well as making the area hidden from view and adding a wonderful scent of woodland pine.
The house has two terraces, both equipped with garden furniture. One is a covered terrace next to the kitchen which overlooks the lawn and pool and has a small outhouse with barbecue and sink, perfect for cooking and dining al fresco. The second terrace is to the north side in front of the entrance and has an abundant vine growing all over it creating a lovely roof shade. There is also a beautiful star shaped fountain as its centrepiece.
The house is entered from the parking area, either by way of the south facing terrace into the kitchen or the north facing terrace into the living room. The living room is spacious and nicely decorated with a cosy corner by an open fireplace and a dining area with table and chairs. This is the central room in the house and leads to all the other rooms.
The 3 bedrooms are all tastefully decorated and painted in different colours.
The furniture is high quality and the rooms have built in wardrobes decorated in Arabic style. Two of the bedrooms have double beds and the third has two single beds. One of the bathrooms has a bath tub and the other has a smaller bath and shower.
The completely enclosed property measures 950m² and is very well maintained with a lot of care and attention. The house is renovated and was once part of a larger estate which used to be a self sufficient farm. The owner still has vineyards which he tends lovingly in memory of his father.
From Frigiliana it is a 10 minute drive to Nerja which boasts some stunning sandy beaches as well as a good shopping centre. Nerja also leads to the motorway for access to all other tourist destinations in Andalusia including Malaga Airport. From here, Granada and the skiing areas of the Sierra Nevada are an hour‘s drive. Between Nerja and Almuñecar there is a natural park with various bays and some of the most beautiful beaches of the Costa del Sol, only a 15 minute drive from Cortijo Orihuela.
