This beautiful country villa is situated 980 metres above sea level on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada and offers impressive panoramic views over the mountains. Cortijo de Alberto lies above the small whitewashed village of Atalbeitar, 10 minutes from the main road by way of a steep curved track leading onto an oasis of lush green lawns and rose bushes surrounding the house. There is also a covered terrace and an attractively tiled, private swimming pool with sunbathing area.

The house itself is built with natural stone and has 2 floors, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Traditional elements of Alpujarran architecture such as terracotta flooring and chestnut beamed ceilings lend a special charm to the house. One enters by way of the terrace which leads into the lounge, a cosy room with sofa corner, television and fireplace. An attractive archway separates the lounge from the dining area and beautifully tiled kitchen. In the east wing of the house there is a large bathroom and two bedrooms. There is wheelchair access from the lounge to the lower bedroom and bathroom and the bathroom has facilities for wheelchair users - a shower without an edge, support rods, special washbasin and toilet. The third bedroom is upstairs and has a double bed and en-suite bathroom and wonderful views from the window. Every room in the house is painted in distinctive colours and very tastefully and individually furnished.

The property is in a very quiet and peaceful location and off the beaten track. The access is a steep and curved road, which may be problematic for the less experienced driver, followed by a short runway that leads to a parking area for 2 cars directly beside the house.

Atalbeitar, the nearest village, is a typical example of the Moorish style architecture of the region, unlike anywhere else in Spain and more akin to the Berber houses across the straits in the Rif mountains of Morocco. Pitres, a 5 minute drive or a pleasant 25 minute walk, is the nearest village for food shopping, bars, restaurants and medical supplies. The coastal resorts and Granada are approximately 90 minutes away by car.
