HOLIDAY COTTAGE CASA CINA
Capilerilla, Pitres, Alpujarras, Andalucia
3 bedrooms, panoramic views
Casa Cina is a delightful holiday home with 3 bedrooms and is completely south-facing for optimum views. The 5000m² property displays a love of detail and is built in the traditional Alpujarranean style with flat roofing and terraced gardens. It is the perfect place for a peaceful, relaxing holiday in the midst of natural and beautiful surroundings.
The access to the house is on the outskirts of Pitres, up a steep, curvy road, that changes in a dust road for the last 400 meters just before Capilerilla. Parking is 100m from the property and then there is a path leading up to the house, a short walk rewarded with a magnificent view over the southern foothills of the Sierra Nevada. In fact, the path leads on into the Sierra Nevada and is a great place to begin trekking in the mountains or into the valley of the River Bermejo with its amazing waterfalls, just 250m from the house, or along the old Moorish water channels. There is a wide range of walks, both long and short, all with breathtaking scenery.
The views from the house are, likewise, spectacular. On a clear day it is possible to see the Mediterranean sea and the Rif mountains in Morocco. There are even better views on the terraces above the house and a steep 70m climb brings you to a rustic pool used both for swimming and as a water reservoir. The water is replaced once a week and is always fresh and chlorine-free.
Casa Cina is divided into two buildings which are connected by a Tinao - a traditional Moorish covered porch with chestnut beam and slate roof. In the west wing there is a living room with open-plan kitchen and two bedrooms. The master bedroom is also open-plan and adjacent to the second bedroom. The east wing consists of a colourfully tiled bathroom with bath tub, a separate toilet and the third bedroom.
The house has two terraces. The covered terrace under the Tinao has a dining table and wooden bench and the kitchen terrace is shaded with a Muscatel grape vine. Both terraces have panoramic views and are excellent places to relax and enjoy the sunsets.
The house is furnished comfortably and simply with a rustic flare. There is a fridge freezer, 4 ring stove with oven, juicer, electrical kettle, washing machine and Wireless Internet connection is available.
The land around the house has a plethora of fruit trees, vines, raspberries, blackcurrants and strawberries and guests are welcome to help themselves. A gardener comes twice a week for maintenance work. The western part of property has a chestnut forest where some of the trees are more than 300 years old.
We ask our guests not to use strong detergents or insecticides as the plants outside the house are watered from all sink and bath drainage.
